Family Day Winter Party
Monday, February 18, 2019
What a great, sunny day for the Lessard Community Annual Family Day Winter Party!! Despite the -16°C temperature with the gusting wind making it feel like -30°C, over 60 community members braved the cold to skate, play hockey, and roast hot dogs, veggie dogs, smokies, and s’mores on one of the two fire pits. Inside while warming up, people could listen to our guest pianist play old time music. Our rink Manager, Earl, had the fires burning warmly and the ice rinks in perfect condition. We invited a local senior to play the piano for the event and that was an absolute hit!! He played many family-favourite songs that even had some people dancing. At 1:00 the puck dropped for a fun hockey game. Players from 6 – 56 years braved the cold and squared off. Two families received a door prize consisting of a Family All Facility Admission to any of the City of Edmonton’s Recreation Centres.
Join us at the community hall for hot dogs, skating and tobogganing from 12 pm until 3 pm Monday Feb 18th. No admission fee. We look forward to seeing you there!
The Lessard Community League is requesting YOUR assistance to come out and work as a volunteer at our casino being held on February 8th (Friday) & February 9th (Saturday) at:
The Grand Villa Casino
(Downtown at Rogers Place,)
10204 – 104th Avenue.
As of this year AGLC is requiring that all volunteer groups work a casino at this new casino.
The funds that we receive from working a Casino are our major source of revenue for the operation of programs and ongoing maintenance of our community league and building.
We are currently allotted one casino every two years, so this is an important event for the community.
We have several positions available and their times vary. Please take a look and see what would fit into your schedule and contact our Casino Chair
780-915-8157 after 6:00 pm or via text.
Please let her know what your preferred date and position is, ASAP.
We need a full slate of volunteers (minimum of 18/day)
to run the casino. Positions currently filled are marked as Taken and highlighted in green.
There is parking in and around Rogers Place but there is an Oilers hockey game on Saturday, February 9th at 5:00 pm. We will reimburse you for your parking, taxi, uber and babysitting costs, and we provide you with a meal either before, during or after your shift.
Please keep your receipts and after the casino, we will provide information on how to submit them for the Community League reimburse you.
Thank you very much for your help!!!
Please pass onto anyone you know who might be interested or able to volunteer.
